The Hobbyist Section

The game isn't the only thing you're working on.

Sports bring this crowd together; the rest of life keeps them here. These are the clubhouse's off-sports rooms — a grill that needs learning, a batch that needs saving, a collection that deserves an audience, a lake that needs a license. Every room runs on photos first: the cook, the pour, the pull, the catch. The talk follows the picture.

The hobby rooms live on the Board — same accounts, same rules. Reading is open to everyone; posting photos and threads requires an account.

Four rooms, open from the start

Starter room

The Grill Yard

Grilling and smoking, for the guy who just took over a serious cooker — or is three seasons in and still chasing the perfect bark. New to a hand-me-down kamado? Start here; half the room learned theirs the same way.

  • Gear help — kamado cookers like the Big Green Egg, pellet grills, offsets, and the kettle in the corner
  • First-cook advice — fire management, temps, and what to cook while you're still learning the cooker
  • Recipes and cook photos — the plate is the proof
  • Troubleshooting — "what went wrong" threads, answered with receipts

Weekly ritual: The Sunday Cook — post what came off your grill this weekend.

The Brew Room

Homebrewing, from first extract kit to a keezer you're quietly proud of. Recipes, gear, honest batch notes, and people who have made your exact mistake before.

  • Recipes — house ales, lagers, experiments, and the one that finally worked
  • Gear — kettles, fermenters, kegging, and keeping it all clean
  • Batch logs — what went in, what the numbers did, how it poured
  • Troubleshooting — off-flavors, stuck fermentations, mystery haze

Weekly ritual: What's On Tap — a photo of what's pouring at your place right now.

The Showroom

Cards and collectibles, shown the way they deserve. Build your personal collection out of your own photos, decide what's public and what's private, and give the good pieces the story note they've earned.

  • Your collection, your photos — shelves built from what you actually own
  • Public or private, your call — per collection; public is a show-off shelf the room can browse and comment on
  • A story on every piece — where it came from, why it's the grail, what it took to land

Weekly ritual: Friday Pulls — show your latest pickup.

Starter room

The Dock

Fishing — the room for the early mornings the rest of the house sleeps through. Talk water, trade technique, post the catch. And before any trip, run the room's built-in tool so the license in your pocket is the right one.

  • Gear and techniques — rods, rigs, knots, and what actually works
  • Catch photos — the dock's version of the plate shot
  • Spot talk in general terms — regions and water types, never anyone's exact honey hole
  • The License Helper — which license you need, what it officially costs, and where to buy it

Weekly ritual: The Weekend Catch — post what you landed.

The Showroom: showcase first

One staging note, stated plainly so nobody has to guess: the Showroom launches as a showcase. Buying and selling on the site is not part of the launch — it arrives in stages, on purpose.

At launch

1 · Showcase

Post your cards and collectibles into your own collection, set it public or private, add the story note, and let the room browse and comment on the public shelves. Showing off is the whole feature — and it's a good one.

Next step

2 · Open to offers

An "open to offers" flag on pieces you'd part with, plus member-to-member messaging so two collectors can talk. Still members arranging things between themselves — the site stays the shelf and the introduction, not the cashier.

Later — not at launch

3 · A full marketplace

An on-site marketplace with payments and shipping is a bigger build and a separate decision, and it comes later if it comes. It is not promised at launch, and nothing in the Showroom today should be read as "you can buy and sell here now."

The Dock's tool: the License Helper

Fishing licenses are a maze: the right one depends on where you're fishing, whether you live there, what water you're on, and how long you're staying — and getting it wrong is an expensive conversation with a warden. The License Helper, a feature of the Dock, walks the maze for you.

How it works

  • Pick the state — your home state, or the state you're travelling to fish
  • Resident or non-resident — the single biggest fork in fishing licenses, and where most visitors overpay or under-buy
  • Pick your water — freshwater, saltwater, or a combo that covers both
  • Pick your trip length — a day, a few days, or the full season

The helper then tells you which license you need, the official fees for it, the short-term visitor options a resident never hears about, and any age, senior, or veteran exemptions the state offers — and it links you out to that state's official purchase page to buy it.

The License Helper is powered by Luka, the clubhouse SI — the picker below is the shape of it, and Luka is the full version: give him your states, dates, and target species and he builds the whole trip plan, fees verified and dated. Ask Luka →

We never sell licenses. Every fee and rule is shown with an as-of date and the official state source it came from — and if the page and the state ever disagree, the official source wins.

More rooms being considered

The short list we're weighing once the starter rooms have regulars — plus one room that already graduated, into the 21+ wing. Say which one you'd walk into, on the Board.

Under consideration

The Garage

Cars, tools, and DIY — the project in the driveway, the tool wall you're building, the home project that finally got done.

Under consideration

The Fairway

Golf — gear, courses worth the drive, and the regular outing your group actually keeps.

After Hours (21+)

The Pour

Bourbon and whiskey — what's on your shelf, what was worth the hunt, what you're pouring this weekend. The Pour graduated: it now lives in the After Hours (21+) wing, behind the age gate with the wing's other late rooms — collections, tastings, and pours of the night.

The Den

Vinyl, home theater, and game-room setups — the room in the house that's yours, and how you built it.
