What happens in The Pour

Shelves, and the hunts behind them
Post the shelf as it grows. Every good bottle here carries its story — the store that finally had it, the friend who tipped you off, the one you opened anyway. Bottle talk runs on the house honesty standard: a value is a range from named sources, dated, never a number invented to win the thread. And a bottle discussed here is never a bottle for sale here.
Tastings
Tastings done properly
How a flight is ordered and judged — nose, palate, finish — and how proof changes what you're tasting. Water and food are part of the method, not an apology. Bring notes, not superlatives: what did the second sip tell you that the first one didn't?
Cigars
The slow hour
Pairing talk with what's in the glass, keeping a humidor honest, and what to hand a friend who's never had one. Unhurried is the whole point of this corner of the room.
Beer, briefly
Beer has its own corner
The bottles and cans get a room of their own next door — styles, breweries, cellaring, and the weekly new-beer argument. If it's beer, take it to the Beer Corner; the whiskey stays here.

Weekly ritual
Friday Pour
Every Friday night, one thread: what you're pouring tonight. The bottle, the pour, and one line on why tonight earned that one. The room's whole week in a single post.
How this room pours
Measured, paced, fed
Pours are measured, water and food are part of a tasting, and pacing is a skill the room respects. Nobody is ever the joke for stopping, switching to water, or calling it a night. And the way home is settled before the first pour — a ride, a couch, or a plan. Not after.
Discussion only — nothing moves here
Nothing is bought, sold, or traded in The Pour, and no post here is a listing. That's a hard house rule for the whole wing, not a mood: the room exists to talk about what's on the shelf, never to move it.
Check the Label
Photograph the bottle before you buy it
The wing's signature tool works hardest in this room. Snap the bottle — or type its name — and Luka returns the full card: the mash bill, the proof, the age statement, flavor notes, how it rates from named sources labeled and dated, and the fair-price context that matters most for bourbon: the shelf price and the secondary-market number, labeled as the different things they are. Plus where it sits near you, linked out to the retailer's own listing, stamped with the date availability was checked. The lookup saves to your shelf, so the collection in your profile is the one on your wall.

Ask Luka
Ask Luka about the bottle
Order this flight for me. What does that mash bill actually taste like? How do I store an open bottle so the last pour is as good as the first? Luka works The Pour under the wing's rules — deep on the knowledge, honest about the price talk, and never a middleman for a sale.
